A grid has two major roles:
1. Using its lamellae, to absorb as much scatter as possible in order to improve the image quality
2. Using its interspacer, to transmit primary X-rays
Fiber‘s high transparency makes it the perfect interspacer material. Indeed, it loses 20% - 40% less primary radiation, which is important for picture quality, than conventional aluminum interspacer material.
Smit Röntgen is the only supplier able to deliver fiber-interspaced grids in high volumes.
