The Smit Röntgen CT Grid
For industrial applications, Smit Röntgen developed a grid that is used in CT security for luggage scanning and homeland security. The grid is designed to fit each detector module perfectly. The modules are placed in an array in the CT bore shape.

Grid Assemblies
Lightweight slip-on frame for the Canon portable detectors
For the new Canon lightweight portable detectors, a slip-on frame is developed. This slip-on frame contains a Smit Röntgen fiber interspaced grid, which has a high transparency, allows for low dose, and is also lightweight. Because of the fiber interspacing, the grid weighs 950 grams, as opposed to 2,4 kilograms for aluminium interspacing. Combined with the lightweight Canon detector, this slip-on frame provides an innovative portable solution. The assembly of the frame includes attachment of the grid, as well as alignment and inspection
Flexible slip-on frame for any detector
Smit Röntgen has developed a slip-on frame for any detector. This frame allows to vary in height, length and width, and thus to be very flexible. The frame is lightweight, but at the same time it is sturdy, resistant and impact proof. An optimal combination of flexibility, ease, and image improvement!
Trixell Grid cover
To support the Trixell Pixium portable 3543 detector, Smit Röntgen offers a click-on frame with customizable grid. The frame can be clicked on and off very easily and can remain on the detector during transportation. Together with the lightweight fiber interspaced grid this combination offers the optimal easy to use, and image improvement solution.

The Smit Röntgen Hi-5 Grid
Lower exposure rates for obese patients with Smit Röntgen Hi-5™ Grids.
Medical imaging components manufacturer, Dunlee, a division of Philips Healthcare, offers a new line of Smit Röntgen grids designed to reduce dose and improve image quality when imaging average to obese patients. The Hi-5 grids are further optimized for better scatter reduction by utilizing 5mm high lead lamellae versus the maximum 3mm high conventional grids. This makes the Smit Röntgen Hi-5 grids ideal for CR and DR imaging to reduce radiation exposure and improve image quality in normal as well as large patients. The incidence of obesity throughout the United States has risen sharply in the past 5 decades, according to the Center for Disease Control in Atlanta. Smit-Röntgen Hi-5 grids are the first products designed to improve image quality while dramatically reducing dose for these patients. Some studies have seen a dose reduction approaching 40% in severely obese patients. Larger patients inherently create more scatter. The increased height of the Smit Röntgen Hi-5 grids effectively captures that scatter, and at the same time the fiber inter-spacing material allows better primary radiation transmission to the image receptor. Clinical studies completed at leading medical institutions showed dose rate reductions from 20-40% using Hi-5 grids.
Improved image quality on SPECT-CT scanner with Smit Röntgen Hi-5™ Grids.
Another application for the Hi-5 grid is the SPECT-CT scanner. The CT part of this scanner employs a large flat panel detector. Because the 3D image reconstruction algorithms of CT are very sensitive for scatter artifacts, the scanner is equiped with a Hi-5 grid which significantly lowers the amount of scatter reaching the detector compared to conventional grids, thus yielding improved image quality.
